Pilates Pricipals- Inspired by Joseph Pilates’ method
Centering
All movement begins from the centre of the body- What Joseph called the “Powerhouse” (Your deep core muscles: Abdominals, lower back, hips and pelvic floor). When the centre is strong and engaged the rest of the body can move with more control, ease, and stability.
Control
Originally named Controlology, the method is based on the idea of intentional movement. Each exercise is done with complete control- not momentum or force-so that you move efficiently and avoid injury.
Concentration
Pilates is a mindful practice. It asks you to be fully present in each movement paying attention to form, alignment and breath. This deep focus improves not just how you move in class, but how you move through life.
Precision
Pilates values quality. Rather than doing mini repetition, We aim for a, Well executed. This builds better body awareness and teaches the body to move more intelligently.
Breath
Joseph Pilates believed breath was essential to full-body health. Coordinated breathing helps you activate deep muscles, release tension, and stay present. Most exercises use a specific breath pattern to support the movement.
Flow
Movements in Pilates are designed to be fluid and graceful, with transitions that are just as important as the exercises themselves. This flow promotes balance, coordination, and a sense of rhythm and energy.
